Parents in Touch recognised for their work in Kids in Count Inspiration Awards
Representatives of Chiswick-based Parents in touch (PiT) attended the second Kids Count Inspiration Awards at the House of Commons on Tuesday night to receive their Highly Commended Special MPs Award for the Best Contribution by a Community Group.
Nominated by Brentford & Isleworth MP Ann Keen in response to the Kids Count’s continuing campaign “to put children and young people at the heart of policy-making and of the family” PiT secretary Karen Adams was delighted to receive the award from Tony Hadley of Spandau Ballet.
Karen said, “It has been a real honour to have all our hard work recognised and makes us determined to work even harder – we want this award to be the first of many!”
Chatting with judges and MPs afterwards Karen felt it was clear that the PiT “Wheelchairs on Ice!” Christmas party (funded by Capital Radio’s Help a London Child) had captured their imagination. “It had been a joy to do, as a complete change from our normal work helping families access appropriate education, health and social care.” She added.
